Degu Babies Update
I asked in the Pets at Home that adopted my various degu pups and pregnant females. Scrat gave birth to seven little degus who were apparently all very happy and healthy. All the boys ended up going to someone who already had ten degus so they’re in some kind of deguopolis and the girls went to someone with a three metre long cage which sounds pretty fantastic. Overall then, my New...

Man Plus - Frederik Pohl
I’ve been meaning to read this for years, after absolutely loving Gateway, and finally got round to it. It was definitely worth the wait, this is a fantastic book. The characters and plotting are all great and keep you guessing and thinking throughout, but what I really loved was the exploration of the nature of humanity here. What really shines through is how frighteningly malleable we...

Ever get the feeling there are positive and negative versions of you, battling it out in your brain? And sometimes the negative side has all the advantages and sometimes the positive side does? Most of the time the positive side is dominant, but Monday and Tuesday this week, that negative guy was kicking around in force. What a jerk! Anyway positivity back now; actually have energy and motivation....

Taking a trip through my writing folder, seeing the different bits and pieces I’ve worked on the past few years. I stumbled across this and really liked it.

– Abraham Lincoln, in a letter to Horace Greeley, 1862 Yet another example that government’s self interest is nothing new. It seeks only to perpetuate itself. Helping society is not among its goals. (via disobey)

I really, really hope they carry on a film continuity with the new Dredd. Karl Urban is just fantastic casting and the whole feel of it is so brutally great. I’ve just finished watching it for the second time and can confirm that, if anything, it gets better with repeated viewings. I massively hope Megacities don’t become a thing.
